Historical Background District Chitral is the Northern part of KhyberPukhtunkhwa dominated by the Kho people speaking Khowar language. According to 2017 census, the population of Chitral district is 447,362. Populated by the majority Sunnis, and Ismailies and Kalasha the district is rich in linguistic diversity.
